Amrin Ansari

As an artist/ illustrator, Amrin's primary aspiration is to learn the relevant skills to build a career and lifestyle which will keep her immersed in the arts and creativity.

A benefit of living in a cultural hub (like Hackney) is that she is exposed to a wide range of creativity and innovation e.g. multicultural food, Art, and Fashion. The creative arts have had a lasting impact on Amrin in challenging socio-political views and influencing her experience of everyday life.

Amrin has completed a LVL 2 in Fashion and Textiles, gaining skills in garment construction, Trend forecasting/ design concepts, illustration& presentation. She enjoys DIY projects from making home décor to making upcycled garments and has previously participated in a seasonal launch project with Nike and interned with Amazon fashion studios.

She has worked with A New Direction on multiple projects, including taking on the role of Young Challenge member (a youth advisory board), as well as two separate projects as a freelancer Illustrator; the publication of a zine for healing and the Arts in Schools project. As a self-starter, Amrin has published Islamic mindfulness colouring books to encourage the Muslim community to nurture their well-being in a creative way.
