Sofia is currently a part time student at the Open University pursuing a BA in music. She is really excited to be a part of the BBC Music Learning team and to collaborate with other creatively minded people.
Sofia loves going to gigs in her spare time and discovering new artists and styles of music. One of her goals is to build an eclectic knowledge of music, accessing different genres, cultures and traditions. Some of her most memorable gig experiences would have to be Portishead, Mos Def and, more recently, Patricia Kopatchinskaja and the Camerata Bern Chamber Orchestra at the Barbican Hall!
At STEP, she is most looking forward to meeting new people, building long-term working relationships and having guidance from a mentor in the industry. Sofia would love to gain experience in broadcasting live events and to eventually work in radio, which she thinks is a great tool for sharing new music with the widest possible audience!
