Izzy is a recent graduate of the University of Manchester where they studied BA Drama and English Literature and an MA in Playwrighting. They are interested in storytelling and have a love of both theatre and film. They have written for stage and screen with two of their short films winning awards in the MAP48 competition in 2021 and 2023. As a queer and nonbinary person, They have a particular interest in the way the queer community interacts with, adopts, and creates culture.
Since graduating they have had to opportunity to work with local theatre companies, performers and film festivals in production and directing roles and they are hoping to take these skills to the next level through their STEP placement. Having had the opportunity to work with playwrights to explore the possibilities of theatre on the page during their degree, Izzy now wants to work on the practicalities of putting theatre on the stage and hope to create their own theatre company with which to produce new queer writing.
They are excited to build these practical skills through their STEP placement and for the support provided by STEP through mentoring and also the community of other applicants.
