I am a graduate living in London, with a degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Leeds. I tailored my degree to align with my growing interest in art, studying modules in Art History and Cultural Studies, and choosing to focus my final project on contemporary art from the region. My long-standing passion for art was bolstered by a visit in 2022 to the Venice Biennale where the pavilions of Zineb Sedira and Sonia Boyce enabled me to envision how I would go about integrating postcolonial literature into artistic spaces.
I am keenly aware of the unique commitment STEP has to addressing systematic inequalities in the arts, by providing a level of support that people like me could not otherwise access, either through connections or even a typical graduate scheme.
I am especially excited by the rare opportunity to connect with an established industry mentor for ongoing support and guidance, and to be constructively challenged, contributing to helping me reach my full potential.
