Yassmine

I have worked across retail and corporate roles, but I always return to my love for dance, music, poetry, and the arts. Growing up in a Moroccan and Colombian household, music and movement were deeply woven into my upbringing, shaping my identity and becoming my most powerful form of self-expression.

My dance journey began with ballet and contemporary, before I pursued a BTEC Extended Diploma in Dance, where I explored jazz, dance theatre, and hip-hop. It was through hip-hop that I found a new pathway of growth, connecting with its history, foundations, and especially freestyle - a space that encouraged me to translate feeling into movement. I continued my training with short courses and studio practice with groups such as Ergonomikz and Boy Blue, which strengthened my passion and discipline. Like many artists, I’ve had moments of falling out of love with dance, which pushed me to question who I am outside of it.

This opened up new creative outlets, including writing and poetry, which continue to inspire me today. In STEP, I look forward to developing as a multidisciplinary artist, expanding my skills, and connecting with a community that values creativity and expression.
